67-year-old Mak Yip Kee has been sentenced to 13 months jail time after he admitted to molesting a 13-year-old female student on an MRT train two years ago
The Singaporean retiree was also charged with outraging the modesty of a 23-year-old business development executive on the same train.
On 7 January 2016, the student - who was dressed in her school's Physical Education attire - was standing behind Mak when he used his little finger to poke her private parts
According to The New Paper, Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Winston Man told the district court that Mak was holding onto a safety bar with his right hand and had a mobile phone in his left hand.
The 13-year-old, who'd just boarded the train at the time, noticed that Mak's little finger on his left hand was also pointing outward.
Shortly after the train departed from the station, Mak poked the front of the girl's thigh. She looked down and saw that his pinky finger was very close to her left thigh.Having initially thought that the contact was accidental due to the train's movement, the teen moved away from Mak. To her shock, he then poked at her private parts over her shorts.
Shocked and scared, she did not confront him and moved further away from him instead. Even as she did so, he kept observing her to see where she was going.
Mak was also charged with molesting a 23-year-old woman, whom he "accidentally" touched as he was getting off the train
As he alighted from the train, Mak swung his right hand towards a woman who stood near the train doors.
The student realised that Mak had also touched her when she noticed the woman moving backwards upon contact. She later approached the woman and upon finding out that Mak had also molested the woman, the teen shared her experience and broke down.
Both women then alighted at the same station and sought help from MRT staff. The police were also notified.
