83-Year-Old Man From China Travels 800KM After Falling In Love With An Influencer

An 83-year-old man from China gained global attention by embarking on an 800km journey to marry an online influencer, whom he believed was seeking a life partner
According to South China Morning Post, the man, known only as Li, made his decision after watching a video uploaded by the influencer on Douyin, China's equivalent of TikTok, where she expressed a desire for love.
The 45-year-old woman is reportedly a popular influencer on Douyin, boasting nearly 1.6 million followers.
Li, who was unaware of the woman's online identity, decided to travel to Suzhou in eastern China with the hopes of marrying her.
Although Li had never spoken to or met the woman, he developed romantic feelings for her and considered her his girlfriend
According to South China Morning Post, Li regularly watched the influencer's videos and gradually developed romantic feelings for her.
However, his illusions were shattered when he approached the police in Suzhou to ask for directions to the woman's home.
Li told the police that he believed the influencer, whom he thought was a divorcee seeking a partner, had "asked Li to marry her".
The police had to clarify to Li that the woman's online posts were not intended for him, and no matter his efforts, she "would not (respond) to him".
After the police explained the situation, Li decided to embark on another 800km journey to return home.
