Woman Dies In Freak Accident After Thunderstorm Causes Tree To Fall On Her

A woman died after being hit by a falling tree while she was walking near the entrance of the University of Malaya (UM)
According to New Straits Times, the incident occurred at 5.25pm during the thunderstorm yesterday evening, 23 October.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue department said they were informed of the incident at 5.31pm
Fire engines from the Seputeh and Jalan Pantai fire stations were dispatched to the scene.
"The firemen arrived at the location at 5.44pm. The victim, whose body was crushed by the tree, was pronounced dead by paramedics from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC)," said the department in a statement yesterday.
The fallen tree also crushed three cars parked in the vicinity: a Proton Saga, Toyota Vios, and Perodua Myvi. None of the cars were occupied.
The body of the deceased has been handed over to the police for further action
According to a statement allegedly issued by the Fire and Rescue department, the victim has been identified as a student from China in her 20s.
However, several media reports identified the victim as a 41-year-old Indonesian.
