AirAsia and Batik Air are offering special discounts and prices to MYAirline customers who have been affected by the airline's sudden suspension

MYAirline announced the suspension of its operations earlier today, 12 October, citing significant financial pressures, and asked its customers to seek alternative travel arrangements to their destinations.

The airline did not mention any refunds, but has been instructed by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) to provide compensation to passengers with standing flight bookings.

In response, AirAsia is now offering a 50% discount on base fares to passengers with confirmed MYAirline flight bookings

According to a statement today, AirAsia said passengers with MYAirline tickets to and from Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, Tawau, Kota Bharu, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, and Bangkok, are eligible for the discount.

The discount is valid from today until 30 November.

AirAsia said affected passengers have to present their confirmed MYAirline flight bookings at AirAsia sales counters at KL Sentral or the airports of the respective destinations.

AirAsia Aviation Group chief executive officer Bo Lingam said the company is also considering hiring MYAirline's staff who are affected by the suspension.

"We encourage affected MYAirline staff to reach out to us and explore the possibilities of joining our Allstars family," he said.

Meanwhile, Batik Air is offering MYAirline passengers special fixed fares on selected routes from Kuala Lumpur

The destinations include Penang (RM129), Langkawi (RM159), Kuching (RM199), Kota Kinabalu (RM299), and Bangkok's Don Mueng International Airport (RM299).

Customers may purchase the one-way special fares for travel up to 30 November, and seats are subject to availability.

Affected passengers are required to attach a copy of their MYAirline tickets and make booking through email at [email protected].

"With the challenges that passengers are currently facing, our aim is to assist passengers so that they can reach their destinations with ease," Batik Air and Lion Group group strategic director Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said in a statement today.

MAVCOM said it is holding MYAirline accountable for the consumers affected by its sudden suspension of operations:
