An American woman has alleged on social media that she was sexually harassed by 50 men during a 30-minute walk in Kuala Lumpur

The woman, a former journalist named Christine Hill, made the claim in response to a viral X thread about an alleged gang rape case in India.

In her reply, Hill said that sexual harassment often occurs not only in India but also cited Malaysia as an example.

"India is not the only place like this. A white woman walking through Kuala Lumpur can expect to have her breast groped about every two minutes," she wrote.

When netizens questioned her claim, Hill said she had lived in Kuala Lumpur for eight years before moving to Singapore due to the frequent sexual harassment she allegedly experienced

"I lived there on and off for eight years and was harassed constantly, as were all the other white women I knew.

"I finally moved to Singapore because I had started [bringing] a big umbrella with me and whacking [anyone] who grabbed my boobs," she said.

She then claimed that 50 men had tried to grope her breasts during a 30-minute walk from Central Market to Shangri-La Hotel.

"Walking from the Central Market to the Shangri-La one day — traffic was terrible — I whacked about 50 men, all Malay, all tried to grab my breasts. That's when I realised I had to move," she said.

Hill added that she reported the incident to "senior political leaders" but was brushed off.

"I brought it up to the most senior political leaders saying it was bad PR for the city. They had a name for it and laughed," she claimed.

The woman's tweets caused an uproar in the comments section, with Malaysians criticising her for making exaggerated claims and spreading misinformation about the country

In response to the backlash, Hill remained adamant that only "white women" like her were the targets of sexual assault in Kuala Lumpur. She also called the city a "shockingly racist place".
