The Dewan Rakyat has just passed the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill 2023 during its third reading via a voice vote

Malay Mail reported today, 30 November, that the bill was passed through a majority voice vote, despite criticisms from both backbenchers and Opposition members of parliament (MPs) during the debate session.

The criticisms regarding the bill focused on the omission of the Generational End Game (GEG) policy, which includes the prohibition on the sale of tobacco products to anyone born in 2007 and after.

With the passing of the bill, Malaysia now has a standalone law to regulate the use of smoking products in the country

According to CodeBlue, this bill regulates the use of tobacco and all tobacco products and prohibits advertising, promotion, and sponsorship of tobacco products, and the imitation of tobacco products, among other provisions.
