Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has unveiled his new cabinet in a reshuffle amid widespread speculation.

Anwar said several changes in the cabinet were necessary based on current needs, adding that consultations were conducted with major component parties in the unity government.

The newly appointed ministers will be sworn in at the Istana Negara later today.

Those who are out of the new cabinet lineup include V Sivakumar, Ramkarpal Singh, and Datuk Siti Aminah.

Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan is Finance Minister II

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer, who was sworn in as a Dewan Negara Senator earlier today, was named Finance Minister II by the Prime Minister.

However, Anwar will continue to helm the finance portfolio.

Meanwhile, Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying was appointed as Deputy Finance Minister. Hui Ying is a member of the Lim Kit Siang family. Her brother, Lim Guan Eng, was the Finance Minister from 2018 to 2020.

Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani is the new Plantation and Commodities Minister

The UMNO politician was initially rumoured to be assigned the Finance Ministry portfolio due to his past experience.

Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad is the new Health Minister

He is replacing Dr Zaliha Mustafa, who will helm the re-established Federal Territories Ministry.

Dr Dzul, as he is popularly known, previously served as Health Minister from May 2018 to February 2020.

Steven Sim Chee Keong is the new Human Resource Minister

Sim, who was previously Deputy Finance Minister II is replacing Sivakumar. The latter had faced multiple calls to step down after several officers in his ministry were embroiled in corruption allegations.

Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad as the new Deputy Human Resources Minister.

Dr Zulkifli Hasan is Deputy Religious Affairs Minister

Zulkifli, who serves as the dean at the Faculty of Syariah and Law at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia was also sworn in as Senator at the Dewan Negara earlier today.

M Kulasegaran is the Deputy Law and Institutional Reform Minister

The portfolio is currently helmed by Ramkarpal Singh.

Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali is the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister

The post was left vacant following the death of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub in July this year.

Gobind Singh Deo is the new Digital Minister

The popular DAP leader makes a comeback to the new cabinet lineup, with the Communications and Digital Ministry being split into two to form the Digital Ministry and the Communications Ministry. The latter will now be led by Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil, who oversaw the ministry before its split today.

Datuk Ugak Anak Kumbong was appointed as the new Deputy Digital Minister and Teo Nie Ching as the new Deputy Communications Minister.

Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan is the new Foreign Minister

The UMNO deputy president earlier held the defence portfolio.

Datuk Mohamad Alamin remains as the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister.

Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is the new Defence Minister

He previously helmed the Higher Education Ministry.

Zambry Abdul Khadir is the new Higher Education Minister

He formerly led the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Datuk Mustapha @ Mohd Yunus Sakmud was appointed as the Deputy Higher Education Minister. He previously held the post of Deputy Human Resources Minister.

Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof is the Energy Transition and Public Utilities Minister

He will be assisted by Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir as his deputy. Previously, Akmal served as the Deputy Local Government Development Minister.

Fadillah, who is also Deputy Prime Minister II, will continue to oversee matters related to Sabah and Sarawak.
