Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was touched when a student visiting Parliament from Kedah gifted him an old photograph of his first election victory in 1982

In a Facebook post yesterday, 3 November, Anwar shared that he was carrying out his duties at Parliament when he was approached by Zahra Mohamad Zelman, a student from SMK Sultanah Asma in Alor Setar, and her schoolmates.

Zahra then handed him a photograph capturing a moment shortly after he first won the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat in 1982, 44 years ago.

The photograph showed Anwar being lifted up and celebrated by Zahra's late great-grandfather, Arshad Ahmad, whom Anwar described as a friend

"It was just one photograph, yet it held so many memories and stories," Anwar wrote.

He added that while the moment captured in the photograph had long passed, the memories of those who had been part of his journey remained close to his heart.

Anwar also took the opportunity to offer some words of encouragement to Zahra and her friends, urging them to keep learning, pursue their dreams, and never give up.

He ended by wishing the students a bright future filled with hope and opportunities.
