Nur Aini Umairah Mohd Fareez, an eight-year-old student, died after being hit by a delivery van on 5 May outside her school in Batu Pahat, Johor
According to Harian Metro, the accident occurred at around 12.30pm outside the school gates as classes were ending for the day.
Batu Pahat district police chief Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani stated the vehicle was moving toward Jalan Simpang Lima.
The Star reported that the van driver has been taken into custody to aid investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death through reckless or dangerous driving.

Nur Aini Umairah, who sustained severe head and internal injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A medical officer from the Parit Sulong health clinic confirmed her passing before her mother arrived.
The girl's mother, Asmilah Tugiran, only realised the victim was her child after identifying the shoes she was wearing.
Asmilah arrived at the school gates just minutes after the collision occurred.

"Usually when I arrive, only then does Nur Aini come out," Asmilah said. She speculated that the Year 2 pupil might have stepped outside the gates to buy something before the accident happened.
The mother admitted her body went weak when teachers confirmed the death.
This tragedy follows a double loss in January last year, when Asmilah lost her mother and grandmother on the same day.
Nur Aini was laid to rest at the Kampung Parit Mustaffa Islamic Cemetery at 9pm on the same day.
The Johor Education Department is currently arranging welfare assistance for the grieving family.
