Bomba Helped A Woman Safely Deliver Her Baby After She Got Stuck On A Boat In Sarawak
Both the mother and her baby are now in stable condition at Sarikei Hospital.
A pregnant woman in Sarawak was stuck on a longboat while she was in labour
The event took place at Express Boat Terminal in Sarikei where the 22-year-old woman and her husband was stuck on the boat as the gate to the terminal was locked.
According to Sarikei Fire and Rescue chief Mahmudin Narudin, the couple was travelling to a hospital with a longboat from their home in Bukit Kinyau on Tuesday, 2 July.
Upon arriving at the boat terminal at 11.50pm, the woman started experiencing labour pains
According to Malay Mail, members of the public sought for help from the Fire and Rescue Department at 11:56pm when the couple could not board the terminal because it was locked.
Following the distress call, the Fire and Rescue Department deployed a team of 10 firemen to the terminal.
The firemen had to break the padlock of the terminal in order to get to the couple
“We managed to cut the padlock within a minute to help the woman who safely delivered the baby on the terminal bench with the help of her husband,” said Narudin.
“However, the woman could not be brought to the hospital in time as she was in pain and going into labour,” he added as quoted by Borneo Post.
