Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that all liquid and gel products containing nicotine will be taxed with excise duty

"It would be better if the product is controlled and taxed to discourage the use of such products," said Anwar, who is also the Prime Minister, during the tabling of Budget 2023 today, 24 February.

The Finance Minister also added that half of the tax collected will be redirected to the Ministry of Health (MOH)

"The government supports the Generational EndGame (GEG) Bill and agrees that half of the tax collected will be directed back to the MOH to improve the quality of the services and fund effective 'No Smoking' campaigns," he said.
