Malaysia's iconic celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail, popularly known as Chef Wan, revealed that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer

Sharing the news in an Instagram post yesterday, 3 August, Chef Wan said he had undergone two rounds of electrocardiogram (ECG) tests to confirm his condition.

Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, a group of organs, vessels, and tissues that fight against infection and keep a healthy balance of fluids in the body.

"My doctor told me about the biopsy of my lymph nodes at 3pm (yesterday). They had to run it twice to verify the result. Indeed, I have lymphoma cancer.

"I was then referred to see my oncologist immediately, who explained all the necessary steps I need to go through to fight this," he wrote in the post.

The 65-year-old chose to share with his followers the various scans he will be undergoing in the coming days to determine the stage of his cancer

Judging by the size of the cancer cells, his doctor said his cancer is probably at the early stage, pending a positron emission tomography (PET) scan to confirm it.

"At this stage, the chances of getting cured are usually 70% to 80%.

"(Next) Monday morning (7 August), I undergo a my bone marrow test, as Lymphoma cancer is also linked to our bone marrow.

"The doctor will also insert my chemo port and start my chemotherapy immediately for 13 cycles, meaning 13 weeks," he wrote.

He said he will start losing his hair once treatment begins.

However, Chef Wan said he is looking forward to it because he gets to imagine "himself in difference fabulous wigs after the treatment"

The quirky person that he is, Chef Wan said he cannot wait to rock the hairstyles of iconic individuals, including Elvis Presley, M Daud Kilau, Samy Vellu, Liberace, and many more.

"I will get to experience Linda Blair's famous vomit scene from the movie Exorcist and even endless diarrhoea.

"I will look bad (before) looking better after that lah," he penned in his candid post.

"Who knows, at this point, I (will) accept all my challenges with an open heart and great courage.

"This is life.... You simply need to take things one day at a time and in a positive way," the accountant-turned-celebrity chef continued.

Chef Wan said he told his daughter and son-in-law not to cry over his health condition, as he is not leaving yet

"I need to be strong and get well, as I also need to look after so many people.

"Insyallah, Allah will look after me," said the celebrity chef, who owns with nine restaurants across the country.
