[VIDEO] Fireworks Stall Explosion In Cheras Damages 5 Vehicles
The explosion lasted around 15 minutes.
Five vehicles were damaged in a fire that broke out after an explosion at a fireworks stall in Cheras, Selangor
According to FMT, Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a distress call about the incident at 9.53pm on Tuesday, 12 February.
A total of 13 firemen and three fire engines from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn fire and rescue station were dispatched to the scene on Jalan Dataran Cheras 6, Dataran Perniagaan Cheras.
"The fireworks stall was completely engulfed in flames. The flames spread and caused five vehicles — including a Toyota Vellfire, Perodua Bezza, and Proton Saga, as well as two motorcycles — to catch fire.
"No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation," said Ahmad Mukhlis.

China Press reported that an hour before the incident, children were seen playing with fireworks in front of the stall. This was confirmed by a dashcam video showing them lighting fireworks with adults nearby at 8:27pm.
The owner of the damaged Proton Saga told the Chinese daily that she and her friends took shelter in the Family Mart store behind the fireworks stall during the fire.
She had stopped at the convenience store for a quick bite before heading to a karaoke centre.
"Unexpectedly, just as I sat down and took a bite of my bread, a series of loud explosions rang out outside.
"The glass door of the convenience store was closed at the time, blocking the fireworks being set off. All I could see was smoke and flames," she recounted.
She added that the fireworks went off for 15 minutes and felt heartbroken upon seeing her vehicle repeatedly hit by the explosions.
