Fashion entrepreneur Christy Ng is pursuing a defamation suit against a social media user to protect the livelihoods of her nearly 500 employees

The founder of Christy Ng Sdn Bhd filed a committal application at the High Court against J Vikneshvra Rau for failing to publish a court-ordered apology in local newspapers.

Despite failing to attend court proceedings, the defendant has allegedly remained highly active on Threads, much to the entrepreneur's frustration.

"He can post continuously on social media, yet fails to appear in court for proceedings," she said, according to the New Straits Times.

Speaking outside the court, Ng revealed that the defamatory English-language post had reached international clients in Indonesia and the Philippines

She explained that the baseless allegations crossed a line, causing severe distress to her parents and threatening the company's standing in the region.

"So this is not just about me, but a responsibility towards employees who rely on this company for their living," she said.

Following Vikneshvra's failure to attend the latest proceedings, the High Court has scheduled a new hearing for 26 October

Ng's lawyer, Foong Cheng Leong, noted that the individual has yet to pay the RM180,000 in damages previously awarded by the court.

Consequently, a bankruptcy notice was officially filed against him last week to enforce the judgment.
