A 21-year-old Maldivian student was killed, and another was injured after the e-hailing vehicle they were travelling in overturned at the PJS Toll Plaza

The crash occurred at about 8.48pm on Sunday, 4 October, at the PJS Toll Plaza on the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), in the direction of Puchong.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said preliminary investigations found that the Perodua Ativa e-hailing vehicle was approaching the RFID lane when it rear-ended a Proton S70, reported China Press.

The impact caused the Ativa to lose control and overturn on the road.

According to Maldivian outlet The Edition, the two students from Taylor's University were travelling in the e-hailing vehicle at the time. One of the students, identified as 21-year-old Aminath Imilee Nazim from Hithadhoo, Addu City, was trapped inside the vehicle and died at the scene from severe injuries.

The other student suffered minor injuries. Neither driver was injured in the crash.
