An elderly man in Kota Bharu, Kelantan spent two days wondering what was making strange noises above his ceiling, only to discover that the unexpected culprit was a trapped duck
According to Sinar Harian, the 70-year-old initially feared that a snake or monitor lizard had found its way into the roof of his home, prompting him to call the Civil Defence Force (APM) for assistance.
APM Kota Bharu district officer Major Mohd Arif Mohd Zin said the department received the emergency call at 11.56am on Monday, 22 June, and immediately dispatched a team to the house.

After inspecting the property, the rescue team discovered a duck trapped inside the ceiling
Mohd Arif said the duck likely flew into the house after being startled by nearby cleaning activities and ended up taking shelter in the ceiling space.
"The complainant told us he had been hearing the noises for the past two days before deciding to contact the authorities," he said.

The rescue operation, involving four APM personnel, was completed in about an hour
"The duck, which belongs to the complainant's neighbour, was safely removed without causing any damage to the structure of the house," Mohd Arif added.
The unusual rescue was later shared on APM Kota Bharu's Facebook page in a light-hearted post, describing the duck as the "suspect" behind the mysterious noises.
The agency also reminded the public to seek assistance from authorities if wild animals or birds enter their homes, as they are trained to handle such situations safely, reducing the risk of injury and preventing damage to property.
