They may not be rich in wealth, but they are rich in manners
That is how one could describe an elderly woman and her granddaughter who touched the hearts of many online after leaving behind the little money they had following a minor accident.
Sharing on social media, Muhammad Mubin said he had just finished shopping at a market last Friday when he found a note placed on his car's windscreen.
A man later approached him and explained that an elderly woman and her granddaughter had accidentally hit his car.
The woman, believed to be in her 70s, left RM206 and asked him to contact her if it was not enough.
"I couldn't wait as I had something to attend to. I've left some money as compensation. I'm sorry it's not much, this is all I have.
"If it's not enough, you can WhatsApp this number. I will try to make up for it," the note read.
Muhammad Mubin later contacted the pair and asked why the elderly woman was still driving.
The granddaughter's response struck a chord — it was just the two of them, and the girl had only just finished school and did not have a licence.
"Her grandmother is about the same age as my father, in her 70s, and they live on their own," said Muhammad Mubin.
"The girl's parents passed away a long time ago, and she has no one else apart from her grandmother.
"They live in a village house, and that car is their only one.
"I felt sorry, so I returned the money and added a little more, as that was all she had," he said.
