[VIDEO] ETS Train Delayed By 2 Hours After Passenger Deliberately Pulls Emergency Brake
The intercity train from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh only arrived at 2am.
An intercity train from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh was delayed for two hours after a passenger intentionally pulled the train's emergency brake while it was in operation
In a Facebook post, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said the incident occurred on Saturday night, 12 October, and was captured on CCTV.
KTMB shared a short seven-second clip of the footage, showing a man pulling the emergency brake located inside the carriage then walking away.
As a result of the incident, the train, ETS ES9052, which was scheduled to arrive in Ipoh at 12.16am, only arrived at 2am.
According to the New Straits Times, KTMB Group CEO Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin said the company is preparing a report of the incident to submit to the Land Public Transport Agency for further action.
Meanwhile, KTMB reminded all passengers not to engage in any action that could disrupt train services
"The video was shared as a measure of awareness so that incidents like this do not happen again," said the railway company.
KTMB warned that passengers found violating the rules would face strict action under Section 122 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715) for the improper use of emergency signalling equipment.
The offence is punishable by a fine of up to RM1,000, imprisonment for up to three months, or both.
