A total of 50,000 low-income and vulnerable households in Selangor will receive RM100 in monthly cash aid for six months under the state's new Kita Selangor Voucher initiative
The programme forms part of the RM140 million Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package Phase 1, which was unveiled in April to help residents cope with rising living costs, global economic uncertainty, and supply chain disruptions.
Speaking after launching the package at a Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting yesterday, 15 June, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said payments are scheduled to begin on 30 June.

Who does the initiative specifically target?
The Kita Selangor Voucher initiative is aimed at 50,000 low-income and vulnerable households across the state.
According to the Selangor government, the programme is intended to support families most affected by inflation, economic pressures, job losses, and declining household income.
The assistance is designed to provide temporary financial relief and help prevent vulnerable households from slipping deeper into poverty amid continued cost-of-living challenges.
How are beneficiaries identified?
Recipients will be selected through existing government databases to ensure the aid reaches those who need it most.
Among the databases being used are:
- The Selangor Well-being Life Assistance Initiative (BINGKAS)
- The federal government's Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU)
"We will begin reviewing the list of recipients on 22 and 23 June before notifying those who qualify," Amirudin said.
"Our target is for recipients to start receiving the RM100 monthly assistance from 30 June, with payments continuing for six months."
According to the Selangor government, eligible recipients will receive short message service (SMS) notifications in stages beginning on 23 June, reported The Star.
The recipients can then verify their information and submit applications through the Kita Selangor Voucher portal, together with the required supporting documents.
What do the beneficiaries receive?
Eligible households will receive:
- RM100 per month
- For six consecutive months
- Total assistance of RM600 per household
The first payments are expected to be distributed beginning on 30 June, following the final verification process.

The Selangor government also announced several other cost-of-living measures
The state government announced a RM30 monthly public transport subsidy for 50,000 users through the NINE application.
The subsidy takes effect immediately and can be used on Selangor's demand-responsive transit (DRT) van network for six months.
Amirudin said the programme will later be expanded to include other public transport services such as the LRT and KTM Komuter.
Selangor will also roll out a free breakfast programme for 120,000 students from lower-income families.
The initiative will cover 965 schools under the Selangor Education Department and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department to ease parents' financial burden.
