Family Of 5 Injured When Water Buffalo Lands On Top Of Their Car After Crashing Into It
The man and his children escaped the accident with minor injuries, while his wife had to be sent to hospital for treatment.
A family of five were caught in a serious car accident involving a water buffalo on Friday, 24 February, in Semerak, Kelantan
According to Oriental Daily, the family were reportedly driving home to Semerak from a family wedding held in Selising at 11pm when the accident occurred.
While driving, the father reported low visibility on the road and that it was difficult for him to navigate. His wife and three children were also in the car during this time.
Due to the road's low visibility, the father failed to spot a water buffalo, which was standing in the middle of the pathway, and crashed his Volkswagen Jetta into the animal.
The impact of the collision caused the buffalo to fly into the air and crash land on top of the vehicle, smashing the back seat window in the process.
While the father and his three children escaped the incident with minor injuries, the wife fell unconscious from the impact and suffered heavier casualties
According to Pasir Puteh district police chief Supt Zaizul Rizal Zakari, the woman was rushed to Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (USM) in Kupang Kerang and was admitted into the intensive care unit (ICU) to receive treatment.
Police are currently investigating the case under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing accidents.
There is currently no information about the condition of the water buffalo.
