FamilyMart Malaysia's 108 Ready-To-Eat Food Items Are Now Halal Certified

The convenience store also opened its ninth store in Melaka.

The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) has awarded Japan-based convenience store FamilyMart's dedicated central kitchen operator QL Kitchen Sdn Bhd a halal certificate

NST Online reported that the certification was given to FamilyMart on Thursday, 16 May, making some 108 FamilyMart branded ready-to-eat food products as registered halal.

Following which, on Saturday, 18 May, the company released a statement saying that the certification will provide as added levels of confidence to Muslim customers to purchase the convenience store's ready-to-eat meals, which includes items such as onigiri, bento, sandwich and bakery items, as well as soft-serve ice cream.

FamilyMart further plans to develop new food and beverage products to be included in the halal list for its Muslim customers

Meanwhile, the halal certification coincides with FamilyMart Malaysia's 100th store opening on Jonker Street, Melaka

This marks the first store to open in the state and the ninth outside the Klang Valley. The eight other outlets outside the Klang Valley are located in Johor, Bernama reported.
