An 81-year-old farmer died in a car accident hours after an influencer treated him to lunch and bought his produce
The influencer with over 84,000 followers, known as Zhang, shared a video on 25 June showing him helping the vegetable vendor named Jing in China's Henan province.
Zhang had bought Jing's entire stock of spinach, cucumbers, and eggplants, which weighed 75kg and cost 60 yuan (RM36).
Jing had given Zhang a discount of 0.80 yuan (RM0.48) per kilo.
When Zhang jokingly asked if Jing could treat him to lunch, the kind farmer agreed without hesitation.

To show his gratitude, Zhang treated the elderly farmer to a generous lunch of braised noodles and four dishes, packing up the leftovers for Jing's wife
Jing shared that he had never eaten the dish before because it was too expensive, explaining that he worked hard to support his two grandsons.
Tragically, Jing's grandson later commented on the video, revealing that his grandfather had died in a car accident on his way home from that very lunch.

"This is his last meal. And this video is his last footage," the grandson said, thanking Zhang for bringing his grandfather pure happiness
Despite some Internet users claiming the lunch invitation altered the farmer's routine and caused the crash, Jing's family firmly defended the creator.
"On my grandpa's last day, a man bought all his vegetables and treated him to lunch that he would never have had himself. If good deeds are criticised and unprotected, no one would do good anymore," the grandson commented on the video.
Zhang has since sent all the footage to the grieving family, offering his continued support while Internet users praise his genuine compassion.
