Fetus Of Pregnant Woman Found Outside Her Body After She Died In An Accident
The victim's father did not even know that Syafiqah was pregnant.
On 10 July, a pregnant woman and her husband passed away after getting into an accident at Jalan Pasir Mas-Rantau Panjang in Kelantan
22-year-old Nur Syafiqah Jaafar and 22-year-old Mohd Ikraam Ab Azit were riding a motorcycle that collided with a Perodua Myvi at 6.30am, Berita Harian reported.
Syafiqah, who was five months pregnant, was found seven metres away from the motorcycle.
Her fetus was outside of her body.
Pasir Mas district police chief Abdullah Mohammad Piah revealed that her stomach was punctured due to the impact of the accident, causing the fetus to come out of her body.
The victim's father, Jaafar Ibrahim, did not even know that Syafiqah was pregnant
"This morning at 8am, we were shocked to learn about the accident. Syafiqah has been married for almost a year, but she never told the family about her pregnancy," Jaafar Ibrahim said, according to Sinar Harian.
He said that he last saw his daughter, a final year engineering student at Politeknik Kota Bharu (PKB), on Sunday.
The 63-year-old did not know where the couple was going before they met with the accident.
The accident occurred when the Myvi driver tried to overtake another vehicle but collided with the motorcycle instead
The couple was driving towards Rantau Panjang, while the Myvi driver was driving in the opposite direction.
The driver suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
"This is a very tragic and sad case. I advise road users to be careful and ensure a safe distance between vehicles before overtaking them," the Superintendent said.
