Foodpanda Singapore has introduced a full-time delivery rider programme that offers a fixed monthly salary, employer CPF contributions, and employee benefits, giving riders an alternative to working exclusively as freelancers
According to the food delivery platform's website, riders can earn SGD2,000 a month before Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions, including a base salary, vehicle allowance, and a temporary retention bonus.
The programme is currently open to bicycle and e-bike riders, with foodpanda advertising an estimated 100 to 110 working hours a month for riders who meet the programme's requirements.
Full-time riders receive SGD2,000 (RM6,391) a month before CPF
The monthly pay package consists of three components:
- SGD1,800 (RM5,752) in base salary
- SGD100 (RM319) in vehicle allowance
- SGD100 (RM319) in monthly retention bonuses for the first six months
The retention bonus ends after the sixth month, giving riders an additional SGD600 (RM1,917) over that period.
Foodpanda also advertises a total monthly package of SGD2,340 (RM7,477) when the employer's CPF contribution is included. This comprises SGD2,000 in pay and SGD340 (RM1,086) in employer CPF contributions, calculated at 17%.
The company said the programme provides an additional SGD200 in monthly CPF contributions compared with the 7% employer contribution rate referenced on its website.

The job comes with paid leave and insurance
Unlike freelance riders, employee riders receive employment benefits alongside their monthly salary.
According to the company, these include:
- Seven days of paid annual leave, with an additional day for each year of service
- Medical leave
- Medical coverage
- SGD100,000 (RM319,568) in term life insurance
- SGD100,000 (RMRM319,568) in personal accident insurance
Employee riders also receive rider gear and a thermal bag. Foodpanda said it provides e-bikes, while riders who bring their own eligible e-bikes can receive an additional SGD100 monthly vehicle allowance.
The company also stated that employee riders are protected under Singapore's Employment Act.
Riders can complete their required hours early and take freelance orders
The programme estimates that riders can complete 320 qualifying orders in approximately 100 to 110 hours a month, or around 25 to 27.5 hours a week.
Riders work flexible four-hour shifts, subject to operational rules. Those who meet their monthly order target can qualify for paid early release from their remaining required hours, subject to the programme's conditions.
They can then switch to their freelance accounts to accept additional deliveries in their free time.
Foodpanda advertises the possibility of earning up to SGD3,700 (RM11,824) more through freelance deliveries, although actual earnings depend on the number of orders completed.
Importantly, freelance deliveries do not count towards the 320 qualifying orders required under the employee rider programme.
How is an employee rider different from a freelance rider?
The main difference is how riders are paid and the benefits they receive.
Foodpanda's employee riders receive a monthly salary, work booked shifts, and follow employee work rules, including performance targets and reviews. They do not receive a separate fee for each order under the employee programme.
Freelance riders, meanwhile, earn based on the number of deliveries they complete.
The full-time programme offers a more structured arrangement, with a fixed salary and employment benefits, while still giving riders the option to earn additional income through freelance deliveries.

How to apply for foodpanda's full-time rider programme
The programme is currently open to bicycle and e-bike riders in Singapore.
Interested applicants can register their interest through the Pandariders SG website. Foodpanda says slots are limited, with more openings to be introduced progressively as needed.
Applicants are encouraged to check the programme's eligibility requirements, employment conditions and allowance terms before signing up.
