A group of football fans were seen hurling chairs at a restaurant in Johor after a FIFA World Cup match between Argentina and Egypt
According to the New Straits Times, the incident took place at a nasi kandar restaurant in Taman Universiti, Johor Bahru yesterday, 7 July.
A 27-second video shared on Threads shows several diners scrambling to safety as plastic and metal chairs were hurled through the air towards the crowd.
A restaurant employee, who wished to remain anonymous, said the brawl was the first such incident in the eatery's 10 years of operation.
"The fight is believed to have been triggered by developments during the match. It was unexpected and beyond our control.
"There was no significant damage to the restaurant or financial loss. None of our staff at the scene was injured.
"However, we were informed that a car was damaged, although we are unsure whether it belonged to one of our customers," the employee told the daily.
He added that the situation was quickly brought under control and did not escalate further.

Netizens who claimed to have witnessed the brawl alleged that the fight broke out after Argentina scored two goals.
Egypt had led 2-0 before Argentina staged a comeback, with Cristian Romero, Lionel Messi, and Enzo Fernández each scoring to secure a 3-2 victory and qualify for the quarter-finals.
