Former GP Racer Elly Idzlianizar Dies After Being Slashed With Katana 12 Times

Police have revealed that the cause of death of former national GP racer Elly Idzlianizar Elias, 40, was slash wounds sustained during a fight in Kangar, Perlis

According to Berita Harian, the incident is believed to have occurred between 9pm and 10pm on Tuesday, 10 September, when the victim visited a 51-year-old man's house in Taman Behor Gonchar Jaya, Jalan Dato Ali.

Kangar district police chief ACP Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop said police received information about a fight that broke out at around 11.13pm.

"Based on the information we received, there was a fight involving four individuals, including the victim, at the entrance to the intersection of Taman Behor Gonchar Jaya.

"When the police arrived at the scene, the victim and three other individuals involved in the fight had already been taken to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital to receive treatment," he said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Elly visited the man's home due to some dissatisfaction, but the man was not home. As Elly was leaving, he encountered the suspect and his 31-year-old son at the entrance.

The motive for the fight is still under investigation.

He was believed to have been slashed with a 112cm-long katana, which has since been seized.

He sustained one slash on his right hand, three on his left hand, and seven to eight slashes on his back. The post-mortem concluded that he died from severe bleeding.

Three suspects, aged between 28 and 51, have been arrested. One suspect tested positive for drugs, while the other two have histories of drug offences and other crimes.

The police are also investigating potential links to secret societies.

Elly's death made headlines earlier today after his family shared the news with the public. The cause of death was not revealed initially.

According to the New Straits Times, the racer had won several championships with various manufacturers including Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki, and was also selected to compete in the 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix.

He later ventured into hosting and became a commentator for the Malaysian Cub Prix. In 2010, he wrote his autobiography, titled Evolusi Elly Daripada Rempit Kepada Juara.
