A 19-year-old girl was murdered in Port Dickson, on Thursday night, 24 May
The murder victim was identified as Nur Alya Damia, a student at Port Dickson Vocational College.
It was learned that there were signs of strangulation on the victim's neck when she was found in some undergrowth in Taman PD Permata.
Berita Harian reported that a man stumbled upon the teenager's body when he wanted to dump garbage in front of his house.
Police said that the victim's body was taken to Port Dickson Hospital for post-mortem.
1. Nur Alya Damia was believed to have been murdered in her former boyfriend's car
"Initial investigations revealed that the victim was killed in the suspect's Proton Wira before the body was left at the scene. Examination also found strangulation marks on the victim's neck," Port Dickson District Police deputy chief DSP Mohd Faisal Mohd Noor said, as reported by Utusan Malaysia.
2. New Straits Times (NST) cited an unnamed source who claimed that the victim and the suspect just separated a few weeks ago and was said to have met on the night of the incident to talk about their relationship
It was alleged that Nur Alya Damia argued with the suspect about the latter's vaping habit and things escalated from there.
"After they started arguing in the car, the victim allegedly threatened the suspect that she will tell his parents about their relationship, as well as his vaping habit, which the parents did not know about."
"The suspect then became angry and lost control and began strangling the victim. He then realised that the victim was bleeding from her nose and had become unconscious," the source was quoted as saying.
In a separate report by Utusan Malaysia, the daily cited a police source who said that the suspect was believed to have thought that the victim only passed out. It was said that the suspect wiped off the victim's bleeding nose using a small towel before he pushed the victim out of the car at the roadside bush in the housing area.
3. The police have detained the 19-year-old suspect
According to Mohd Faisal, the victim's former boyfriend was detained at 10.45pm on 25 May.
He was picked up at his rented house in Taman PD Idaman, Lukut which is about one kilometre away from the location where the victim's body was found.
"The police took only 15 minutes to track down the suspect (after the victim was found)," Mohd Faisal was quoted as saying by Bernama.
The police have obtained a seven-day remand order against the suspect from the Port Dickson Magistrate's Court.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
4. According to the victim's father, Mohd Hairi Jamil, Nur Alya Damia did not show any strange behaviour prior to murder
Speaking to Bernama on Friday, 25 May, Mohd Hairi revealed that his daughter returned to their home in Klang, Selangor, last week and he also spoke to her over the phone just a day before the incident.
"I also spoke to her over the phone and she asked me to help look for a suitable company around Shah Alam and Klang for her to undergo her industrial training," he said.
When he was met by reporters the next day on 26 May, Mohd Hairi said would like to confront the murder suspect to ask why he had killed his daughter.
"I have never raised my hand or beat Kak Long. Therefore, I want to meet the suspect to ask why he did this and my heart will never be at peace until I hear it from his own mouth.
"I also do not want to believe the news or information on the Internet as the facts cannot be verified,” he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.
