Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has announced her intention to take legal action against Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria for falsely claiming she is the daughter of YTL Corporation Berhad's founder, Yeoh Tiong Lay

Taking to X, Yeoh addressed the comments Razman made during a recent 30-minute speech, from which an excerpt containing the false claim went viral.

"Actually, Razman's speech that accused me of many things went over a minute long. Wait for a letter from my lawyer.

"Slander cannot be allowed to become a norm, especially by a man of religion," said the Segambut member of parliament (MP).

In the clip, Razman called Yeoh the "child of a rich person"

"Hannah Yeoh is a child of a rich person. She is the daughter of YTL... UMNO was 'smart' back then and sold the Perak-Hanjoong Simen (a cement company) to YTL for profit," Razman said in the video shared by Yeoh earlier on X.

Yeoh refuted the claim, saying, "PAS needs to understand that not all Yeohs are related."

According to Malaysiakini, Razman made the remarks during a speech at the Ceramah Kebangkitan Rakyat in Parit, Perak, on 26 January.

Razman has since apologised for making the comments, and admitted to his mistake in relating the minister to the corporate giant

In a Facebook post yesterday, 27 January, he wrote, "I acknowledge my factual error regarding the connection between Hannah Yeoh and YTL. I admit that Hannah Yeoh has no ties to any corporate figures or the YTL company. It was an unintentional slip of the tongue."

However, he expressed his disappointed with the media coverage of his speech, accusing it of deliberately highlighting his mistake while ignoring other parts of the speech and the success of the three-day programme.

He also extended his apology to Yeoh, YTL, and any other party whom may have been affected or offended by his statement.
