Thai Princess Adopts Homeless Dog Waiting For Its Deceased Owner Outside 7E
"I promise to love and care for him as if he were my own child, with all my heart and effort," she said.
Thai Princess Siribha Chudabhorn has taken in Moo Daeng, a stray dog who recently went viral for his loyalty in waiting outside a 7-Eleven in Nakhon Ratchasima province for his deceased owner
According to the princess' Facebook page, the story of the loyal canine, who has been dubbed the 'Hachiko of Korat', has touched her heart.
Earlier this month, a social media post about the stray dog from the Northeast province went viral
According to Khaosod English, Moo Daeng ('red pig' in Thai) had been sleeping at the 7-Eleven store near Yamo Market, which had been his homeless owner's regular resting spot, since November 2024.
It is said the homeless man had fallen ill and passed away last November, but Moo Daeng continued to wait there faithfully for his companion's return.
The store's manager and staff, along with local vendors and customers, took it upon themselves to care for Moo Daeng, providing him with food, blankets, and affection
A sign next to him even read: "Thank you to all the customers who love our little one. But he can't drink milk or eat liver. Let's take care of him for a long time. Thank you."
Moved by the dog's plight, Princess Siribha, the eldest daughter of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, arranged for Moo Daeng to be brought to her royal residence in Chiang Mai
On her Facebook page, the princess explained her decision: "I'm not taking Moo Daeng away from anyone, but his mental health is a priority. He's suffering from severe depression, and I deeply empathise because all my pets have experienced trauma, whether from abuse, abandonment, or harm.
"Dogs and cats are no different from us — they feel pain, loss, and love, especially when treated like family."
The princess also thanked the community for their care and assured the public that Moo Daeng would receive the best attention, starting with a veterinary check-up before settling into his new home
According to The Nation, when officials arrived to pick up Moo Daeng on Thursday, 23 January, many locals gathered at the store to bid him goodbye and wish him good luck in his new home.
"I promise to love and care for him as if he were my own child, with all my heart and effort," promised Princess Siribha.
The princess has also promised to keep the public up-to-date on Moo Daeng's wellbeing.
