China's First Corgi Police Dog Had A "Ruff" Day At Work & Lost His Year-End Bonus
He needs to "paws" and reflect on his actions.
Fu Zai, China's first corgi police dog, recently had his "year-end bonus" confiscated for some less than paw-fessional behaviour, and netizens are feeling for him
This four-legged officer joined the police force in Weifang, Shandong Province early last year and quickly became an Internet sensation for his impressive detection skills and undeniable cuteness. However, this cutie isn't immune to "ruff" days.
On 19 January, the Weifang Public Security Bureau shared a video with the caption: "Breaking news! Fu Zai's year-end bonus is gone, and the reason is..."
The bureau first shared that Fu Zai exhibited exemplary behaviour at work, which included passing his assessments, successfully completing numerous security tasks, and contributing to the promotion of police dogs in the region
For such a stellar performance last year, Fu Zai was rewarded with a safflower, a stash of tasty canned snacks, and a plushie snake toy to celebrate the Year of the Snake.
However, Fu Zai's trainer was unimpressed with some behaviours he displayed during training, such as sleeping on the job and even "relieving" himself in his food bowl.
As a result of his misdeeds, Fu Zai was left with just a stalk of safflower for his hard work and because he smelled like a work station (Whatever that means T_T).
In the video, Fu Zai can be seen chasing after his "year-end bonus", gaining laughter and sympathy from netizens
Fu Zai's story has resonated with netizens, who can relate to the disappointment of a lost bonus (or maybe just the struggle of staying awake at work).
"His helplessness in chasing after the snacks is just like us looking for explanations from our superiors," a netizen empathised.
"Fu Zai worked hard, walking tens and thousands of steps every day, but he was still criticised in his year-end summary hahahaha," another netizen commented.
Others expressed sympathy for the hardworking corgi, some even offered to help Fu Zai out:
"He didn't beat up his colleagues. He was lifeless at work and full of energy after getting off work. These are all minor offences. I strongly suggest that Fu Zai's prize be restored."
"You confiscated the snacks, but did you have to take the toys too? Put them back now, or I will send three big boxes to Fu Zai," another said.
Netizens were quick to chime in with their own humourous takes on Fu Zai's predicament.
"Fu Zai: I should have peed in my leader's bowl," one user joked, implying a mischievous motive behind the dog's actions.
