A woman has earned praise from thousands of Malaysians after going viral for mopping the entire corridor of her apartment floor as a form of exercise

In a Threads post on Sunday, 19 July, Izzati posted two photos of her apartment corridor with its squeaky-clean floor.

"I was so crazy. I mopped the entire floor even though I live in an apartment, all because I had a late dinner.

"I was too lazy to do any other exercise, so I thought I might as well be useful to the local community," she wrote in the caption.

At the time of writing, the post has garnered over 40,000 likes and 2,300 comments

"Hahaha that's awesome, sis! You burned calories and gained a reward for a good deed (pahala) on top of it," read a top comment.

"Congratulations! You're so inspiring. There's a guy I follow who does something similar. He goes to the surau near his house and cleans it as part of his workout. He does it as a good deed for the sake of God (fisabilillah). Both of you are so inspiring!" another a Threads user commented.

Many other netizens also shared photos of themselves performing similar acts, saying they had cleaned common areas in their own residential buildings.

Speaking to SAYS, Izzati said she used three pails of water to clean the corridor of her 14-unit apartment floor

"I had to change the water several times to get that shiny finish," she said.

She shared that she has been living in an apartment in Setia Alam, Selangor, for the past two years, and that her usual forms of exercise include brisk walking and doing household chores.

"Before anyone says anything, I usually mop the apartment corridor after 11pm on weekdays.

"At that hour, hardly anyone is using the corridor, so the risk of someone slipping is very low," said the 32-year-old private tutor.
