The government has retracted its toll waiver abolishment and decided to offer a 50% discount on toll charges in conjunction with Chinese New Year

According to FMT, Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said the move will cost the government approximately RM20.08 million in compensation to the toll concessionaires.

Road users can enjoy the discount from 12.01am on 27 January to 11.59pm on 28 January.

The discount applies only to Class 1 private vehicles, excluding those travelling across borders at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Tanjung Kupang toll plazas.

On Tuesday, 21 January, Nanta said the government would no longer give toll exemptions for festive seasons

The Works Minister said the government would opt for a "more targeted approach" to replace the blanket waivers.

However, following the news, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming stated that the implementation would be reviewed at the Cabinet meeting today, 24 January.

Nga had earlier urged expressway concessionaires to offer a 50% toll discount as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).
