As of 8.45am today, 15 September, 38 air quality monitoring stations nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, according to data from the Department of Environment (DOE)
Sarawak recorded the highest reading, with the IPD Serian monitoring station recording an API of 188, just 13 points below the 201 mark that would put it in the "very unhealthy" category.
The Klang Valley was also among the worst-affected areas.
Johan Setia in Selangor recorded an API of 183, followed by Cheras in Kuala Lumpur at 170 and Shah Alam at 167.
Putrajaya recorded a reading of 165, while Batu Muda recorded 161. Petaling Jaya and Klang both recorded 160, while Banting recorded 157.
Several other monitoring stations across the country also recorded readings in the "unhealthy" category.
The haze was first reported in parts of Malaysia around 10 August, with Sarawak and Selangor among the areas initially affected
The continued deterioration in air quality has since raised concern among Malaysians, with some taking to social media to share photos and observations of the hazy conditions.
One netizen reported that the haze was particularly bad in downtown Kuala Lumpur this morning, saying that landmarks including KLCC, TRX and KL Tower were barely visible.
"The haze is so very bad this morning in Malaysia, with readings close to 200," the netizen wrote, alongside photos showing a city skyline significantly more obscured by haze than it was on Monday afternoon.

The latest readings mean several areas remain close to the "very unhealthy" threshold, as the haze continues to affect visibility and air quality across parts of the country.
