Several Malaysians have expressed concern after rabbits at a small petting area in Pekan Sehari Temerloh, Pahang, were allegedly left outside in the afternoon sun for hours
According to Threads user @its.aain, she came across the rabbits at around 4pm on Sunday, 13 September, after the morning market had ended.
Pekan Sehari Temerloh operates every Sunday from 7am to 1pm.
She shared photos showing the rabbits in a small cordoned-off area, with a sign stating that entry cost RM4 and feeding the rabbits cost RM1.
"Please let these rabbits go viral. Maybe the vendor who opened this petting area at Pekan Sehari forgot to bring their rabbits back. The weather is very hot, pity these rabbits, they've been bathing in the sun for a long time," she wrote.
She also shared photos showing that she had tried to provide the rabbits with some shade using pieces of cardboard.
However, about an hour later, @its.aain said she returned to the area and found two rabbits dead
"When I returned around 5.16pm, two rabbits have died. Thankfully, someone took one home," she wrote.

Another visitor later alleged that the rabbits had been left outside on previous occasions
According to Threads user @maemaiakdl, she visited the area a few hours later and spoke to a shopkeeper next to the petting area.
The shopkeeper allegedly told her that the rabbits had not been accidentally left behind, but that the owner regularly left them outside until nighttime.
"Please, please stop doing petting zoos if you are not responsible and knowledgeable," she wrote.
"The owner didn't forget to bring them back. He really put them there like that before taking them back at night. The shop next door said the uncle has done this more than once," she claimed.
She added that she and her sister buried the dead rabbits and shared photos of them in plastic bags.
The two Threads users also alleged that the owner is a disabled man who sets up the petting area on the sidewalk without a permit.
SAYS has reached out to Temerloh Municipal Council, which manages the market, for a statement on the incident and will update this article if a response is received.
