Convicted prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has left the Federal Court after failing to appeal his conviction in the SRC International case today, 23 August

The highly-anticipated case came to a conclusion today, with the Federal Court upholding the former prime minister's sentence.

His 12-year jail term will start immediately, and he will be fined RM210 million.

Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, leading a five-member panel, made the judgement against the Pekan member of parliament (MP) this evening.

Najib did not leave the Federal Court through the main lobby, leaving some reporters unsure which vehicle the Pekan MP was in when heavily tinted vehicles left the premises.

Several Black Marias that left the building were seen empty.

According to photos taken by Astro Awani, the number plate of the vehicle transporting Najib to the prison was "WWE 5869".

The 69-year-old UMNO leader was being transported to Kajang prison.
