Mentally Ill Man Attacks Nurse Outside Hospital Kuala Lumpur
She required four stitches after being struck on the back of her head.
A nurse was attacked by a man with mental illness while walking to a bus stop near Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) after work on Friday, 28 February
According to Bernama, Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the incident happened around 5.10pm as the government hospital nurse was walking along Jalan Pahang.
"The suspect struck her on the back of the head with a hard object before fleeing the scene.
"The victim, who sustained head injuries, sought treatment at HKL and received four stitches," Sulizmie said in a statement on Monday, 3 March.Following a tip-off, police arrested the suspect at 10.11pm on Saturday, 1 March, near the scene
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon.
Sulizmie said initial investigations revealed that the suspect was mentally ill and lacked identification documents. He was also unable to provide any personal details.
"The suspect has since been sent to HKL and placed under psychiatric ward observation," he said, adding that a paper cutter knife was also found in his possession.
