The Internet Can't Decide If This Cat Is Going Up Or Down The Stairs. Can You?

A few days ago, a 9GAG user uploaded an image of a cat that appears to be descending and ascending the staircase at the same time. Like The Dress which broke the Internet, this image of the cat has commenters bickering over whether it's going up or down!

The online debate has largely been divided between people professing a knowledge of feline bio-mechanics and others arguing from an architectural standpoint. The key difference between this image of the cat and The Dress, however, is that people don't seem nearly as sure of themselves this time. Everyone is at odds about it:
