According to Taiwanese media outlet SETN, the fight broke out when the woman, a transgender Internet celebrity named Jiang Yan (姜颜), was having dinner with her friends.

A drunken stranger at an adjacent table suddenly came over and began hurling insults at them, claiming to be a lawyer from Hong Kong and belittling the people of Hunan.

In one of the viral videos, the man can be seen yelling at Jiang Yan and her friends while throwing objects in their direction. In another clip, Jiang Yan is shown violently attacking the man on the ground as her friends try to intervene.
