The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) has begun implementing multi-level burials at Raudhatul Sakinah Islamic Cemetery in Kepong to address limited burial space

According to a Facebook video and statement, JAWI said the initiative is being carried out by its Mosque Management Division in collaboration with its Da'wah Management Division and the Kuala Lumpur Public Works Department (JKR).

The burial method is specifically intended for deceased individuals who have no next of kin.

The department hopes the initiative will improve burial efficiency while making the work of cemetery staff easier

"Efforts to improve and upgrade cemetery operations, including exploring the use of suitable technologies and equipment, remain a key priority in ensuring JAWI delivers its services effectively.

"The initiative also reflects the department's commitment to ensuring that the management and burial of the deceased are carried out responsibly, in an orderly manner, and with dignity, in accordance with Islamic religious requirements," it said.
