The National Registration Department (JPN) will begin issuing the new-generation MyKad with 53 advanced security features starting today, 17 September
Malaysians applying for the new MyKad can get their cards on the same day at 40 JPN branches nationwide.
According to JPN, these branches are equipped with printing facilities to produce the new MyKad on the spot.

Don't have a printing facility? Then, it will take five working days to process.
You can still apply for the new-generation MyKad at other JPN branches, but you'll need to wait five working days before collecting it.
Meanwhile, JPN has advised Malaysians not to rush to replace their existing MyKad
If you're happy with your current MyKad, there's no need to immediately head to a JPN office just to get the new version. The current cards remain valid and can continue to be used as usual.
