Kedah Blood Donation Drive: Donate & Get A Free Bag Of Rice This November
The campaign aims to address blood shortages in Kedah and Perlis.
Blood donors will be given a free bag of rice as part of a month-long blood donation campaign in Kedah
According to Sinar Harian, Majlis Jaksa Pendamai Negeri Kedah (Kedah Council of Justices of the Peace) deputy president Datuk Tan Hong Eng said the initiative is aimed at encouraging the public to donate blood and replenish the state's blood supply.
"This programme is running from 1 to 30 November, and every individual who comes forward to donate blood will receive 5kg of rice as a token of appreciation from us for their willingness to help patients in need," he said.
The campaign, organised in collaboration with Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH), aims to collect 3,000 bags of blood.
Tan said the event is important to address blood shortages, as Kedah and Perlis require up to 5,000 bags monthly
"Hence, we are taking this initiative to encourage donors from all walks of life and suitable age groups to donate," he said.
The blood donation drives will be held at many accessible locations such as shopping malls, universities, and clinics within the state
Among the locations include the HSAH lobby on 7 and 18 November, Amanjaya Mall on 23 November, and Village Mall on 16, 24, 29, and 30 November.
There will also be blood donation drives at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kedah, and AIMST University in Sungai Petani.
