"We Would Love To Have PM On Our Show" — KJ Welcomes Anwar To Appear On 'Keluar Sekejap'
The 'Keluar Sekejap' podcast celebrated its first anniversary this month.
Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said he would love to have Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his podcast, Keluar Sekejap, hopefully within this year
The radio DJ and Keluar Sekejap co-host said this in response to a question by SAYS at the KL PodFest 2024 press conference today, 2 February.
"We would love to have the PM [prime minister] on the show," said the 48-year-old.
"But I think it's about timing. I think we'd love to have a prime minister at some point on [our show].
"We have a long list of people who we'd like to interview first, but of course, we'd love the privilege to interview our prime minister. But the timing is key, and we hope we can get an agreement [with Anwar] at some point, maybe [within] this year," he said.
Khairy mentioned that his team has not extended an official invitation to Anwar for the podcast. However, they have reached out to his office to gauge his interest.
"Our philosophy is that we want to get all sides [of the political divide] to come on Keluar Sekejap... We trend at the top in terms of current affairs and political podcasts in the region. So, it's not a bad platform [for Anwar] to be on, and we will be fair," he added.
The Keluar Sekejap podcast has aired a total of 81 episodes since its debut in February last year, celebrating its one-year anniversary this month
Throughout its one-year history, the show has featured numerous prominent guests, including former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the nation's longest-serving international trade and industry minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, and former Bangi lawmaker Ong Kian Ming, among others.
Khairy said the most-viewed Keluar Sekejap episode has over two million viewers on YouTube, and this number does not include listeners from Spotify and other podcast channels.
Both Khairy and Shahril Hamdan are politicians in exile after being sacked and suspended from UMNO, respectively.
On 4 February, Khairy and Shahril will appear at KL PodFest 2024 for a live episode of Keluar Sekejap
He was speaking at the press conference today to promote the event that will be attended by over 20 biggest podcasters in Malaysia.
Khairy said the 3,000 tickets for the two-day event have been sold out, adding that attendees will get to watch each podcast live during the event.
The shows that will be recorded live at the event include Tiber, Mamak Sessions, Mr Money TV, Kinabalu Podcast, Balls Deep, Head Over Heels, SEISMIK Podcast, and more.
