A lorry driver has been hailed as a hero for using his vehicle to stop a bus that had lost control near the Menora Tunnel in Perak
According to Berita RTM, the incident occurred on Monday, 15 June, when an express bus was believed to have lost control before colliding with several vehicles along the North-South Expressway.
Dashcam footage of the incident showed the lorry driver manoeuvring his vehicle close to the road barrier, allowing the bus to scrape against the rear of the lorry.
The move is believed to have been a deliberate attempt to slow down and regain control of the bus.
An MPV travelling ahead of the lorry was also seen swerving into the right lane, creating space for the lorry to carry out the manoeuvre.
After about 20 seconds, both vehicles came to a complete stop, preventing what could have been a fatal accident involving the bus passengers and other road users.
At the time of writing, the dashcam footage has gone viral, with thousands of netizens praising the lorry driver for his quick thinking and selfless actions
"The lorry driver must be given an award and recognition for his bravery. Salute to you, lorry driver," wrote a Facebook user, while another added, "This is a true hero who risked his own life for the safety of others."
"Abang lori's quick thinking has saved many lives. He deserves to receive an award and should be made an example for others to follow," said a netizen.
