LRT Derails On Ampang-Sri Petaling Line. Here’s What You Need To Know
Commuters are advised to use other alternative rail routes in the meantime.

An LRT train on the Ampang–Sri Petaling Line derailed this morning, 28 May, resulting in service disruptions
According to the New Straits Times, the train derailed while passing through a track switch at the Chan Sow Lin Station.
Rapid KL confirmed that all 25 passengers onboard were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
The rail operator also confirmed that the photos and videos circulating on social media showing commuters walking along the tracks during the evacuation are authentic.
In response to the disruption, an alternative service plan has been activated to maintain travel continuity, including revised train routes and free shuttle bus services.
Here are the contingency services provided, as published on Rapid KL's train delay notice:
- Trains from Sentul Timur will turn back at Pudu (frequency: 4 minutes)
- Shuttle trains between Ampang and Maluri at Platform 2 (frequency: 6 minutes)
- Shuttle trains between Maluri and Chan Sow Lin at Platform 1B & 2B (frequency: 8 minutes)
- Trains from Putra Heights will turn back at Bandar Tasik Selatan (frequency: 6 minutes)
- Shuttle trains between Bandar Tasik Selatan and Cheras at Platform 1 (frequency: 8 minutes)
- Shuttle trains between Cheras and Pudu at Platform 1 (frequency: 8 minutes)
- Free shuttle buses between Hang Tuah to Cheras and Pandan Jaya (frequency 15-20 minutes depend on traffic condition)
Commuters are advised to use other alternative rail routes to continue their journey to their destinations.


Rapid KL said its technical team is currently investigating the cause of the incident, while repair work is ongoing
Photos and videos posted on social media show affected commuters walking along the side of the railway.
Commuters were seen disembarking the train with assistance from personnel, who shone torchlights to help them navigate the dark train carriage as they exited.
The first coach of the train was seen derailed onto a different track.
