Proton say their discount is higher than Utusan's report
Proton will unveil a reduction in the prices of its existing models in Malaysia tomorrow. The lower-priced variants will be unveiled at Proton's Mutiara Damansara outlet in Malaysia and bookings will be open to the public.
Proton executive chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil said the prices would be 10 per cent lower and the models involved were the existing variants in the carmaker's stable.
"We are reducing the prices based on value engineering," he said at the launch of Proton's Preve model for the Indonesian market, here, yesterday.

Proton cars are priced between RM38,148 (Saga FLX) and RM89,012 (Exora).

Proton, Peugeot, and Honda say Utusan's report is wrong
Volkswagen and Peugeot have both refuted claims of a price slash this year, as reported in Umno-backed broadsheet Utusan Malaysia three days ago as part of proof that the ruling coalition had fulfilled its election pledges.
“Without prejudice, nothing was issued by us, we were not consulted before the article went to print and have no association with the news contained therein. The prices shown appear to be the 308 Turbo pre-facelift and 308 VTi which are in fact two different variants of the Peugeot 308,”
Honda also was reported saying that its Honda Jazz Hybrid had always been priced at RM89,900 since its launch last year.

Car prices will be reduced gradually until 2017, says International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
