9 Malaysian Hotels Featured In MICHELIN’s 2026 Key Global Selection

The MICHELIN Guide has unveiled its 2026 selection of the world's most outstanding hotels, with nine Malaysian properties receiving MICHELIN Key recognition this year

The 2026 global selection was announced on Friday, 18 September, and includes 2,832 hotels across three levels: 2,020 One-Key, 657 Two-Key, and 155 Three-Key hotels.

The MICHELIN Key is the hotel equivalent of the MICHELIN Star for restaurants, with hotels awarded one, two, or three Keys based on their overall quality and experience.

The MICHELIN Key selection is now in its third year.

In Malaysia, five new hotels have been awarded One Key, while four hotels have retained their One or Two Key recognition

The five new One-Key hotels are:
– Mandarin Oriental, Desaru Coast, Johor
– Cheong Fatt Tze – The Qing Suites, Penang
– Soori Penang
– Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur
– The Datai Langkawi

Meanwhile, these four hotels have retained their existing recognition:
– Else Kuala Lumpur — One Key
– Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur — One Key
– The RuMa Hotel and Residences, Kuala Lumpur — One Key
– Four Seasons Resort Langkawi — Two Keys

Malaysia has yet to receive a Three-Key hotel.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand has the most MICHELIN Key hotels with 70, followed by Indonesia with 47 and Vietnam with 21

– Thailand — 70 Key hotels
– Indonesia — 47 Key hotels
– Vietnam — 21 Key hotels
– Cambodia — 12 Key hotels
– Singapore — 11 Key hotels
– Malaysia — 9 Key hotels
– Philippines — 9 Key hotels
– Laos — 2 Key hotels
– Myanmar — 1 Key hotel
