A man from Kuching, Sarawak, was in shock after discovering that his bank account balance had 10 digits
Speaking to Berita Harian, Wan Muhammad Fairus, 33, said his bank account was supposed to contain less than RM1,000.
However, when he checked his savings account yesterday, 14 October, he found a balance of RM1,000,315,879, leaving him speechless.
"At the time, I was in the bedroom trying to make a transaction, and if I am not mistaken, there should have been less than RM1,000 in the account.
"When I opened the account and pressed the [unhide] balance icon, I was surprised to see that there was such a large amount.
"I was really shocked! My hands were shaking as I held my phone. I tried logging out and logging back in, but the money was still there.
"When I looked at the bank statement and asked ChatGPT how much the figure was, I realised it was worth RM1 billion," he told Berita Harian.

Knowing the money was not his, Fairus, a father of four, contacted the bank, believing it was a technical error
He said he never considered using the money because he knew it did not belong to him and was worried about the legal consequences.
"After contacting the bank, they informed me that there was a technical problem and temporarily blocked my account until 4pm yesterday.
"Everything was resolved when the bank cancelled the transaction, and my original money in the account was not affected.
"The bank told me that they would give me a reward, but I haven't received it yet, and I don't know what the reward will be. I may have to wait for an email or a notice from them later," he said.
Earlier, he posted a screenshot of his bank account on Threads, which has since gone viral
The screenshot showed that the money had been credited to his account through a "bank adjustment", with the transaction categorised under "Rewards – Promotion/Campaign".
The transfer details read, "Cash Reward – Merdeka / Malaysia Day 2026 Campaign (Cycle 6)".
The post garnered over 5,800 likes and 580 comments, with many netizens expressing amusement over Fairus's experience.
