Protests against sexual violence in India has grown since the 2012 gang rape and murder of a student on a Delhi bus. Official statistics say about 25,000 rapes are committed every year in India.

Earlier this year, a 51-year old Danish woman was allegedly gang-raped in Delhi. She was robbed and raped at knife point.
