A 32-year-old man said he fell into a catchment drain, estimated to be about 12m deep, while he was collecting some items in Ayer Keroh, Melaka last Friday, 15 May
Speaking to Kosmo!, the victim, identified only as Naim, denied claims that the drain in Taman Melaka Perdana was only 4m deep.
He said he was trapped in the drain for nearly three hours before being rescued.
"When I was in the drain, I thought it was my last day because no one could hear me screaming. I was trapped for about three hours.
"Even the firefighters and doctors were surprised that I could survive after falling into that deep drain," he told the news portal.
He added that he suffered a serious knee injury from the fall.

Naim also said he was surrounded by insects and even found traces of snake skin while waiting to be rescued
He further denied claims by several media outlets that he had fallen into the drain while trying to rescue a cat.
"Yes, I fell into the ditch and not because I wanted to save the cat. I went to get something, then the concrete covering the ditch broke and I fell," he explained.
Melaka fire and rescue department public relations officer deputy fire Supt Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid confirmed the incident, reported The Star.
He said firefighters carefully navigated the injured man through the narrow drain while ensuring he stayed conscious and calm.
