21-Year-Old Was Kicked Out Of His Flight Because He Posted A "Terrorist" Joke On Snapchat
He was released after it was determined that there was "no terror link".
A passenger onboard a flight from Kolkata to Mumbai was taken off the plane after he posted a selfie on Snapchat that alarmed another passenger
On 27 November, 21-year-old Yogvedant Poddar was removed from the Jet Airways flight after posting a photo of himself showing half of his face covered with a handkerchief, Kolkata deputy police commissioner Avvaru Ravindranath told AFP.
Accompanying the photo, Poddar wrote the caption, "Terrorist on flight, I destroy women's hearts" before posting it on his Snapchat
Irish national Benjamin Plackett, who was sitting behind him, alerted the cabin crew as the plane was about to take-off.
After being "deplaned for security reasons", Poddar was detained for almost 10 hours for questioning before it was determined that there was "no terror link"
According to Independent, Poddar was "visibly traumatised" while pleading his innocence to airport officials.
"It was a message that was meant exclusively for his friends and was not intended to threaten or hurt anyone," said a police official."The aircraft departed for its destination with a revised flight timing" after the necessary checks had been carried out, the airline added, according to Channel NewsAsia.
